This blog is intended to provide insights into how teacher’s can and are using technology in meaningful ways on a daily basis.

Jon Hamlin is an ICT Teacher at Pinetree Secondary School in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

He has taught at both elementary and secondary levels and has also spent 2 years teaching in inner-city London, UK.
Prior to teaching Jon was employed in private sector IT as a technician for a company dealing in corporate hardware and networking. Highlights included a stint setting up hardware for the Canadian military during the 1997 Apec conference in Vancouver. He later ran his own retail computer company and offered adult education courses in IT basics. Further afield, he has worked internationally in the IT department of Xerox Europe, based in Cork, Ireland.

He has been a presenter at School District 43 professional development days and was a featured speaker at the Digital Music SF conference (October 2010) located in San Francisco, California.

Jon has a passion for incorporating technology into his lessons whenever possible. He feels that critical evaluation of digital content is a key teaching strategy for the future and that managing one’s digital footprint should be required learning at all ages.

A proponent of the lifelong learning philosophy, Jon continues to pursue a passion for creative design, photography, and an assortment of other visual arts. As an electronic musician, Jon has created various original pieces and remixes that have received global radio airplay around the world.
